Broadcom's NFC contributions include the Topaz chip family, which served as the reference implementation for NFC Forum Type 1 tags. While Topaz chips are less common today compared to Type 2 and Type 4 alternatives, they played an important historical role in establishing NFC standards. Broadcom also provides NFC controller ICs used in some smartphone platforms.
